Tawonga Tidbit
Note for Session B fans: Our blog post tomorrow (on Friday) will publish closer to 10pm so you can enjoy photos from Shabbat.
The campers are getting excited for their second Shabbat of the session tomorrow! Meanwhile, today bunks explored activities all over Camp. Below, check out G-9 getting ready for an exciting day hike, Haifa campers at the popular river spot, Secret Beach and AG-9 getting their hands dirty with “sculpti clay” at A&C.
Also, a quick peek into TLI:
For those who don’t know, part of the TLI experience is to give back to Tawonga through service. The teens have been “tikkuning” (or repairing) a campfire spot at Tawonga called the freedom forest (pictured recently here on the blog). In addition to raking paths, lining them with rocks and making beautiful plaques to hang around this area, teens are also making an art booklet with letters and poems that will live at the forest.
The booklet is comprised of messages of love, hope, nature, and friendship to inspire future campers. The teens then painted rocks with numbers on them, and the numbers are associated with messages in the booklet.
The teens are honored to leave a legacy behind in this way. “As lifelong Tawonga campers, it’s so meaningful for us to give back to Camp and to future generations of campers,” shared teens Lilah and Emily.
“The teens have really stepped up to share messages of hope, peace and freedom,” said TLI Leader Sam. “So many campers are noticing how beautiful the forest is looking.”
