We’re Ready for the Campers!

After a week of intensive training, known as In-Service, Tawonga’s 2016 summer staff is incredibly excited and prepared for our Taste of Camp campers to arrive in just three days! This all-star team is comprised of nearly 200 staff members, many of whom went to Tawonga as campers. Throughout this past week, we have participated in dozens of trainings led by our amazing summer director and supervisor team in order to develop the essential skills to keep campers safe and happy during their time at Tawonga. (Plus, the week prior to In-Service, all supervisors spent an additional week together learning and training to support the staff).

Members of every department, from counselors and waterfront to arts & crafts, wilderness and the kitchen, have gone through both inter-department and Camp-wide trainings and activities to ensure a respectful, safe and prepared environment. Like all the work we do here at Tawonga, every training is guided by our Mission to inspire children to build self esteem and connect to community, nature and Judaism.

From discussions surrounding gender, anti-bullying and Jewish identity to workshops on community building, health and basic safety, this amazing group of staff has worked hard to create a warm and welcoming community, sure to provide an unforgettable experience for Tawonga campers this summer.

P.S. Stay tuned for our next post which will be a video introducing our Summer Director Team!
