Erik Rice

Erik is a former Camp Tawonga staff member after having gone to and worked at Camp Tamarack in his home state of Michigan. He and his wife Ellen (who he met at Tawonga in 1997!) have two children who have both gone to Tawonga for years and one has now served on staff!
Erik holds a BA in African American Studies from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Mills College. He has been a public school educator for nearly 30 years and sees much of this influenced by the principles and practices of Tawonga. As a teacher, high school Principal, and district administrator, Erik has focused on redesigning the high school experience, supporting transformational learning for underrepresented populations. He is currently leading the development of the Mission Bay Hub for San Francisco Unified School District.
