Josh Shak
Board member since: 2024
A Bay Area native, Josh was a camper at Tawonga for many years as well as a bunk counselor. Josh earned an MD and a PhD in microbiology from Emory University and applies his medical and research training in his work at Roche Diagnostics, developing new tools to diagnose pathogens and characterize the body’s response to infections. Josh also treats patients in the San Francisco VA emergency department. Josh met his wife Emma in medical school and they have both served as Camp Doctors at Tawonga and brought their three daughters to Family Camp. The Tawonga experience was a foundational component of Josh’s upbringing and he looks forward to bringing his passion for Tawonga, the outdoors, and Jewish values to his work on the Board of Directors.
