Session 2, Leaving on a Jet Bus
All our bags are packed and we’re ready to go!
The power of Session 2 is felt in these last few days as campers prepared to say goodbye to what feels like a “second home” to many of them. This morning, staff led Session 2 campers through the “Tunnel of Love”, sending them onto their “jet buses” and eventually back home, to the “real world.”
Last night, after a decadent banquet dinner, all of Camp gathered for a memorable closing at Makom Shalom where many bunks performed songs, poems and skits. We also discussed different ways of “bringing Tawonga home” as everyone prepared to wrap up a memorable session. This morning, everyone gathered by Unit to share memory sheets and exchange contact information. As campers walked through the Tunnel of Love, they hugged staff members goodbye and shed tears, reminding one another that there will always be next summer.
We will sincerely miss these incredible, thoughtful campers who have brought an indescribable energy to Tawonga. We hope to see them all back at Camp next summer for yet another Session 2! Thank you so much Session 2 families sharing your kids with us this summer – and for all the Tawongans back home tuning in.
P.S. Even though Session 2 has come to a close, we would love to stay connected with your family throughout the year! Save the date for Tawonga’s Erev Rosh Hashanah Celebration in Oakland’s Joaquin Miller Park on Friday, September 15, and for our Early Kol Nidre Service (same location) on Sunday, September 24.
Shalom chaverim – we’ll see you again!
