What We Do
For 95 years, Camp Tawonga has served as a leader in Jewish camping, fostering in children and families a deep connection to nature, community and Judaism. We run programming for children, families and young adults at our stunning residential campsite next to Yosemite National Park and in the San Francisco Bay Area.
At Tawonga, children and teens build self-esteem, make lifelong friends and discover their truest selves. The impact of Tawonga often lasts forever.
Our Programs
Summer Programs
Yosemite-based programs include classic one to three week summer camp sessions and skill-building teen leadership offerings. Our adventure “Quests” offer epic wilderness explorations on the road. All programs are run by Tawonga’s renowned and dedicated staff.
Family Camp
Family Camp weekends offered in May, August and September provide four days to relax, unplug and have a blast in the breathtaking beauty of the Sierra Mountains. A true taste of all that is Tawonga.
B*Mitzvahs
This innovative two-year program offered in the Bay Area takes Tawonga’s resonant approach to Judaism and applies it to the B*Mitzvah journey. Students participate in immersive monthly camp-style classes, hands-on family learning, weekend retreats in nature and critical thinking about Jewish ritual.
Year-Round Family Programs
Families can build community and experience the warm and welcoming Tawonga spirit all year long. Our “Down the Mountain” programs in the Bay Area include Jewish holiday celebrations, Tot Shabbats and volunteer service outings.
Alumni
Tawonga alumni connect with each other throughout the year through hosted events, reunions and programs. Offerings include our annual Social Justice Seder, Alumni Spring Service Weekend and cross-country Tawonga@Home Shabbat.
