Tawonga’s B*Mitzvah program is a Bay Area-based alternative (or addition) to Hebrew school for 5th and 6th graders who are excited to take the next step toward becoming Jewish adults and to build community, Tawonga-style.
We would love to share more with you about this program and invite you to join the virtual info session on August 25th. The info session is geared toward adults but children are welcome to join.

High Holidays
Tawonga Erev Rosh hashanah Celebration
Gather with friends and family for a joyful outdoor Rosh Hashanah service featuring traditional prayers, inspiring teachings, spirited singing, and the warmth and ruach that make Tawonga gatherings so special. This family-friendly celebration is open to people of all ages.
The service will be led by Rabbi Deborah Newbrun and Isaac Zones, whose music, wisdom, and leadership have become a cherished part of our High Holiday celebrations. Joining them will be Maya Elise (Abramson), Roger Sideman, Casey Cohen and Marissa Deitz , creating a rich musical experience.
Be sure to bring your shofar if you have one – we’ll conclude with our community shofar blast to welcome the new year together!

Kol Nidre Service
Sunday, September 20, 3:30 – 5:30pm
As the Ten Days of Awe draw to a close, we come to Yom Kippur, the most reflective and soul-searching day of the Jewish year, beginning with the moving Kol Nidre service.
We invite Tawongans and friends ages 5th grade and up to join us for our annual Kol Nidre Service. This meaningful and musical gathering offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and connect in community as we enter Yom Kippur together. Participants are welcome to wear white, a tradition that symbolizes renewal and introspection.
Join us for prayer, reflection, learning, and of course, music. Leading the service will be Rabbi Deborah Newbrun, and leading the musical program will be Isaac Zones. Joining them will be Maya Elise (Abramson), Roger Sideman, Casey Cohen and Marissa Deitz. the warmth and ruach that make Tawonga gatherings so special. This family-friendly celebration is open to people of all ages.
