Key Family Camp Highlights

  • Meals – Families will enjoy delicious, nutritious Family Camp style meals in our outdoor dining pavilion! Each family will have their own table and lots of delicious options to enjoy.
  • Housing & Bathrooms – Each family will have their own cabin and will be assigned to a bathroom and shower. If you are already in a pod with another family and would like to share a cabin, please email ashley@tawonga.org and let us know!
  • Activities – We will be offering all of our classic family camp activities including arts and crafts, challenge course, hiking, swimming, s’mores and more! We will celebrate Shabbat as a community (socially distanced) and experience joyous Judaism in nature.
  • Camp Tawonga Staff – You can count on the same high quality, loving and wonderful staff that Tawonga employs each year.  When staff are leading activities like arts and crafts and the challenge course, they will be masked as an extra precaution, and we will ask families to wear masks as well. All of our staff will be vaccinated.
  • Day Groups and Childcare –We are thrilled to be able to offer morning childcare/day groups to kids ages three and older. The children will participate in activities outside and masked. For those with little ones under three, we will have some fun baby/toddler and parent activities to enjoy! We are sorry we are not able to provide childcare in the mornings for children under three. This is due to masking, distancing and staffing constraints due to COVID-19. Please note that children under three pay a reduced price.
  • Safety – We ask families to follow our ⅔ rule which is to always have two of these three things: masking, distancing, and/or outdoors. So you can be outside and distant and unmasked or outside and close and masked or inside and distant and masked.
  • Testing – Due to the Delta variant and breakthrough cases of COVID-19 in vaccinated individuals, we are requiring that everyone attending the weekend (regardless of vaccination status) show proof of a negative PCR test for COVID-19 taken within 72 hours of arriving at Camp.

Click here for our Family Camp FAQs with more detailed information about COVID policies, testing, pre-camp guidelines and more.

We are offering these 4-day, 3-night programs in August, September and early October. Click here to see dates and rates.

About Family Camp

Family Camp weekends are offered in May, August and September. (In 2020, we hoped to run a weekend in October before the pandemic escalated.)

Our six weekends for families offer four days of relaxation and rejuvenation for adults and fun for kids in the stunning beauty of the Sierra Mountains.

Family Camp provides a taste of all that Tawonga has to offer: campfires, song sessions, Shabbat, boating on the lake, arts and crafts, the challenge course, hiking to and dipping in the river, yoga, stargazing, delicious food and free-flowing Peet’s Coffee.

Families have ample opportunities to enjoy Camp together, and adults also have designated time on their own to explore activities while our supportive counselors provide fun programming for kids, ranging from sports and swimming to storytime with the tots and babies.

As a community, we celebrate Shabbat with singing, dancing and a delicious Friday night dinner followed by participatory, kid-friendly services in our beautiful outdoor sanctuary on Saturday morning. Tawonga’s weekend programs are the ultimate family getaway, to unplug and immerse in nature and community, relax, unwind and have some serious fun!
