Family Camp Update for 2020 Season

With COVID-19 turning our lives upside down, we wish we could offer Tawonga’s fresh mountain air as a respite. Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we have determined that it is not yet safe to re-open our site for programs from July through October, including all Family Camp weekends. The known and unknown risks of transmission conflict with Tawonga’s fundamental commitment to the health and safety of our families. We will reopen as soon as we are ready to do so.

All families canceled from 2020 programs will have a priority registration period beginning on November 18. Click here to view 2021 programs. Please note that programs and dates may change as a result of COVID-19.

About Family Camp

Family Camp weekends are offered in May, August and September. (In 2020, we hoped to run a weekend in October before the pandemic worsened.)

Our six weekends for families offer four days of relaxation and rejuvenation for adults and fun for kids in the stunning beauty of the Sierra Mountains.

Family Camp provides a taste of all that Tawonga has to offer: campfires, song sessions, Shabbat, boating on the lake, arts and crafts, the challenge course, hiking to and dipping in the river, yoga, stargazing, delicious food and free-flowing Peet’s Coffee.

Families have ample opportunities to enjoy Camp together, and adults also have designated time on their own to explore activities while our supportive counselors provide fun programming for kids, ranging from sports and swimming to storytime with the tots and babies.

As a community, we celebrate Shabbat with singing, dancing and a delicious Friday night dinner followed by participatory, kid-friendly services in our beautiful outdoor sanctuary on Saturday morning. Tawonga’s weekend programs are the ultimate family getaway, to unplug and immerse in nature and community, relax, unwind and have some serious fun!

And check out our Family Camp Packing List before you go!

I can’t recommend it highly enough! If you love the outdoors, music, arts & crafts, swimming, and tons of childcare so adults can have fun too, these weekends are for you.Jessica C.
