Taking Tawonga Home

Goodbyes are never easy, especially after a session full of amazing campers who remind us why we do this summer after summer. Today as Session III came to a close, campers embraced friends, counselors, and other staff members as our song leaders led us in a final All Camp Song Session, closing with the adapted John Denver song, “Leaving on a Jet Bus.”

“So kiss me and smile for me, tell me that you’ll wait for me hold me like you’ve never let me go. ‘Cause I’m leaving, on a jet bus, we know that you’ll be back with us, oh babe, I hate to go.”

We hope our Session III campers think back on their time at Tawonga this summer with nothing but fond memories and that they find ways to bring that Tawonga magic to the “real world.” We know we will be counting down the days until next summer, and we miss our Session III campers already!

For families new to camp, as well as for those returning, we hope that you will stay engaged with us throughout the year for some fun Down the Mountain community programs in the Bay Area.

One great way to reconnect with us is at an upcoming Jewish Heritage night with the Oakland A’s on August 4th – we hope to see you there!
We also want to invite you to Tawonga’s 90th Anniversary Gala, on Saturday November 7th in San Francisco. This will be an incredible evening marking this milestone in our history.
Lastly, if you haven’t already done so, stay connected with us by bookmarking our blog, liking us on Facebook, and following us on Twitter.
