Delicious vegetarian and vegan options are available for every meal, in addition to a “middle table” with alternative meal options to meet every camper’s needs.

During breakfast, the middle table offers a wide selection of cold cereal and milk (dairy-free options available as well), in addition to hot cereal with a variety of toppings. Each lunch and dinner, campers can also choose from options at the middle table, including sun-butter and jelly sandwiches, tuna sandwiches and hummus. A salad bar with ample fixings is also available to campers and staff for every meal to either supplement or replace the options on the menu that day.

Where the Campers Are

Today

The unit of Eilat (B-5, B-6, G-5, G-6A and G-6B) returned to Camp from their two night backpacking trip in time to shower and get ready for Shabbat. G-9, G-10A and G-10B were on the Challenge Course today strengthening the bonds within their bunks.

Tomorrow

Everyone is in Camp tomorrow to rest and relax for the second Shabbat of the session.

Birthdays

Happy birthday to Ari A. one of our hardworking and dedicated counselors, and Freya K., one of our amazing session III campers! We are so happy to celebrate their special day at Camp together!

Here’s what celebrating a birthday at Camp Tawonga looks like. (Hint: It’s pretty special.)

How’s the Weather? ☀️

Sunny with a high of 92, low of 60 today

During the hottest time of the day, campers relax in the shade of their cabins during Rest Hour. Additionally, counselors always make sure that campers stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and cool off in the pool or the beautiful Tuolomne river, which are all especially important during hot days like today. In case you missed it, check out this post on what a “typical day” at Camp Tawonga looks like.

Did You Know …

In 2016, we launched the Tawonga Bar, Bat & B’nai Mitzvah program as an innovative way to incorporate nature, community building, social justice and experimental Jewish learning into the bar/bat mitzvah experience.  This year, we will enroll our fourth cohort with 120 students, 30 of whom are enrolling in their first Tawonga program! You can learn more about this innovative program here.

The Tawonga Tidbit brings you a daily dose of Camp with our kitchen menu, Camp birthdays and more. We hope this series brings you a bit closer to Tawonga!
