Tawonga Tidbit

Today’s Kitchen Menu

Shabbat morning means a sleep-in breakfast buffet of bagels with all the fixings and special Shabbat cereal

For lunch on Shabbat, we offer the week’s highlights in the form of leftovers from the week’s meals!

Fruit: Apples

Unit BBQ’s with hamburgers, hot dogs and grilled chicken served with green salad, chips and pasta salad

Dessert: Rice Krispie treats and watermelon

Delicious vegetarian and vegan options are available for every meal, in addition to a “middle table” with alternative meal options to meet every camper’s needs.

During breakfast, the middle table offers a wide selection of cold cereal and milk (dairy-free options available as well), in addition to hot cereal with a variety of toppings. Each lunch and dinner, campers can also choose from options at the middle table, including sun-butter and jelly sandwiches, tuna sandwiches and hummus. A salad bar with ample fixings is also available to campers and staff for every meal to either supplement or replace the options on the menu that day.

Where the Campers Are

Everyone is in Camp relaxing and unwinding from an amazing first week of Session IV.

Campers in the units of Carmel (B-1, B-2, G-1, G-2A and G-2B) and Galil (B-3, B-4, G-3, G-4A and G-4B) go on their elective day hikes tomorrow!

What’s so special about today? We are celebrating the birthday of Chantal M. one of our amazing Session IV campers!

Here’s what celebrating a birthday at Camp Tawonga looks like. (Hint: It’s pretty special.)

How’s the Weather? ☀️

Sunny with a high of 96, low of 63 today

During the hottest time of the day, campers relax in the shade of their cabins during Rest Hour. Additionally, counselors always make sure that campers stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and cool off in the pool or the beautiful Tuolomne river, which are all especially important during hot days like today. In case you missed it, check out this post on what a “typical day” at Camp Tawonga looks like.
