Today’s Kitchen Menu
Scrambled eggs with toast and orange slices
Baked potatoes with pinto beans, sour cream, shredded cheese and green onions
Shabbat dinner means roast chicken, rice pilaf, roasted veggies and homemade challah
Dessert: Berry cobbler
Delicious vegetarian and vegan options are available for every meal, in addition to a “middle table” with alternative meal options to meet every camper’s needs.
During breakfast, the middle table offers a wide selection of cold cereal and milk (dairy-free options available as well), in addition to hot cereal with a variety of toppings. Each lunch and dinner, campers can also choose from options at the middle table, including sun-butter and jelly sandwiches, tuna sandwiches and hummus. A salad bar with ample fixings is also available to campers and staff for every meal to either supplement or replace the options on the menu that day.
Where the Campers Are
The unit of Galil (B-3, B-4, G-3, G-4A and G-4B) returned from backpacking today just in time to get cleaned up for Shabbat. G-7, G-8A and G-8B were on the Challenge Course today bonding with each other and being Edelrid (which is a Tawongan word for super super super duper safe).
Everyone is in Camp for a restful Shabbat
Happy birthday to Avery H. and Julian O., two of our incredible and dedicated staff members this summer. Another special day at Camp Tawonga!
Here’s what celebrating a birthday at Camp Tawonga looks like. (Hint: It’s pretty special.)
How’s the Weather? ☀️
Partly cloudy with a high of 84, low of 52 today
During the hottest time of the day, campers relax in the shade of their cabins during Rest Hour. In case you missed it, check out this post on what a “typical day” at Camp Tawonga looks like.
Did You Know …
In 2016, we launched the Tawonga Bar, Bat & B’nai Mitzvah program as an innovative way to incorporate nature, community building, social justice and experimental Jewish learning into the bar/bat mitzvah experience. This year, we will enroll our fourth cohort with 120 students, 30 of whom are enrolling in their first Tawonga program! You can learn more about this innovative program here.
The Tawonga Tidbit brings you a daily dose of Camp with our kitchen menu, Camp birthdays and more. We hope this series brings you a bit closer to Tawonga!
Check back in tomorrow for more Tawonga fun!
