Tawonga Tidbit

Today’s Weather: High of 91, low of 66

Every day – and particularly on warmer days like today – counselors make sure the campers are applying (and re-applying) sunscreen and drinking plenty of water. Plus, during the hottest time of the day, kids relax in the shade of their cabins during Rest Hour. In case you missed our post on what a typical day at Camp Tawonga looks like, read here

Today’s Kitchen Menu:

  • Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, English muffins with jam and orange slices
  • Lunch: Sandwich bar with all the fixins: cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and condiments. Dessert: apples
  • Dinner: Spaghetti with meat and tomato sauce, focaccia, cauliflower and salad. Dessert: chocolate cake!

Vegetarian alternatives are provided for all Camp meals, in addition to cereal and oatmeal  for breakfast, and sun butter & jelly sandwiches during lunch and dinner, plus a salad bar option. In addition to these three square meals, Tawonga’s kitchen also provides a snack every afternoon for the campers and staff, like gogurt, string cheese, pretzels or fruit.

Where the Campers Are: B-1 and all Haifa bunks are on day hikes today with their counselors, led by our inspiring backpacking leaders. The bunks in Haifa are G-7, G-8A and G-8B, B-7 and B-8. All other bunks are in Camp.

Today’s Birthdays: Happy birthday to staff member, Ben T.!
