That’s a Wrap for Summer 2019!
This morning, our final session left on a jet bus!
Campers awoke to their last breakfast and outdoor song session. Afterward, all bunks gathered to create memory sheets, reminiscing on some of the session’s highlights with their fellow bunkmates and friends.
Everyone reconvened at the Stage, to close out the session with Camp classics like “Friends, Friends, Friends” and Tawonga’s rendition of John Denver’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane” renamed “Leaving on a Jet Bus.” All of Camp was treated to an acoustic version of “I Am California” led by nanny staff member Sam O. as they proceeded through the Tunnel of Love to the buses that lined the road ahead.
Tears and hugs were exchanged as campers and staff members said some hard goodbyes, all the while comforted with the reassuring words,
This is not goodbye…more like a see you later!
These two and a half weeks have been amazing beyond measure and it shows – filled with tons of laughs and memories that are sure to last a lifetime.
Blogger Jenna here signing off. Until next year, Camp Tawonga!
