Welcoming Taste of Camp!

This afternoon, our enthusiastic staff lined the dirt road with song and cheer welcoming our Taste of Camp campers for a week of Tawonga fun! Upon their arrival, staff escorted campers to the stage where they received their bunk assignments and met their counselors. Campers were taken on a tour of camp known as a, “havurah hike,” where they visited important buildings like the Dining Hall, Bath Houses and the Health Center. Counselors and campers worked together to create a bunk-related theme and short skit to perform at the opening campfire.

The evening continued with a nourishing dinner prepared by our fantastic kitchen staff in our newly expanded Dining Hall. We celebrated Micah G’s birthday with the traditional Tawonga birthday shtick. Songleaders Elan, Shiloh, and Nick led the camp in the iconic Tawonga version of the John Denver song “Country Roads” as kids excitedly sang along to the Camp classic that makes them feel at home.

Campers performed their rehearsed skits on stage at the opening campfire, introducing themselves and their bunk-theme to Camp. We closed out the night singing Hashkiveinu and Friends, Friends, Friends with a gorgeous pink sunset on the horizon.

We’re so excited for the week ahead!

Look forward to tomorrow’s post for photos from the first official day of Taste of Camp.
