Your daily dose of Tawonga’s weather, kitchen menu, and camp birthdays. Previously named the Daily Bubble, we hope this series brings you a tidbit closer to camp.

Today’s weather: High of 90, low of 59
Up in the Sierras during summer time, the temperature rises at camp. Counselors ensure that campers stay hydrated throughout the day and apply (and re-apply) their sunblock.

Today’s kitchen menu:

• Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, English muffins, and orange slices
• Lunch: Tacos with beans, rice, veggies, cheese, and salsa
• Dinner: Spaghetti with red sauce, zucchini, and foccacia

Vegetarian alternatives are provided for camp meals, in addition to cereal and oatmeal or grits for breakfast, and sun butter & jelly sandwiches during lunch and dinner.

Today’s birthdays:
Happy birthday to Stella G.! And yesterday camp celebrated birthdays for Eli Z. and Sera B.! Camp Tawonga birthday kids are hoisted in chairs (safely!), presented with birthday ice cream bowls to share with their bunk, and asked to think of two wishes as they blow out their candles: “One for yourself, and one for the whole world.”
