Earth Day

While every day at Camp can feel like Earth Day, today our campers had the opportunity to participate in Tawonga’s version of Earth Day. This All Camp Program was put on by our very own Teva (nature) department and was designed with Tawonga’s Mission in mind for kids to connect with our natural environment, learn about wildlife and actively take part in sustainable and organic food production.

The afternoon entailed Session IV campers rotating through a variety of stations all over Camp that combined food, music, playful creativity and educational components about the outdoors. Campers hopped on a bike blender station that churned delicious fruit smoothies (while also learning about the importance of where our food comes from), made organic lip balm out of herbs and participated in some Earth yoga under the Willow trees.

Kids also enjoyed making eggs hatched from our very own chickens who live on our farm and helped to grill zucchini from our organic garden. Throughout the whole program, staff played bluegrass tunes for all to hear. What an event!
