Notes from the Road: Rock and River Quest

Today’s blog post takes you behind the scenes of Tawonga’s recent Rock and River Quest.

Earlier this month, the Rock and River Quest returned from two weeks rock climbing in Mammoth, backpacking in Inyo National Forest and river rafting in Placerville on the American River.

Breakfast

🍞 French toast bake with eggs and oranges

🌺 Hawaiian chicken wraps with chicken, cabbage slaw and dressing

🌽 Enchilada pie with corn, black beans and salsa with sides of roasted veggies

A Note on Alternative Foods
🥑 Tasty vegetarian and vegan options are available for every meal, in addition to a “middle table” with alternative meal options to meet every camper’s needs.

🥣 During breakfast, the middle table offers a wide selection of cold cereal and milk (dairy-free options too), in addition to hot cereal with toppings. Each lunch and dinner, campers can choose from options at the middle table, like sun-butter and jelly sandwiches, tuna sandwiches and hummus. 

🏕 Backpacking Trips and Challenge Course

Today

The bunks of Chalutzim unit (AG-9, B-10, G-9, G-10, G-11, G-12, B-11, B-12) headed out on their backpacking trips this morning.

Bunks B-3 and B-4 had fun on the Challenge Course today.

Tomorrow

The bunks of Chalutzim unit (AG-9, B-10, G-9, G-10, G-11, G-12, B-11, B-12) will be on day two of their backpacking trips.

Bunks B-7, B-8A and B-8B will get their turn on the Challenge Course.

On an especially hot day like today, counselors always make sure that campers stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and cool off in the pool or the beautiful Tuolumne river.
