A salad bar with ample fixings is also available to campers and staff for every meal to either supplement or replace the options on the menu that day.
Where the Campers Are
Today
The unit of Chalutzim (B-9, B-10A, B-10B, G-9 and G-10) is enjoyed their second day of backpacking today and are once again sleeping under the stars tonight in the beautiful backcountry! The bunks of B-7 and B-8 are on the Challenge Course today practicing the Tawongan principal of “Challenge by Choice”, while campers in the unit of Eilat are on their elective day hike today.
Tomorrow
G-1, G-2A and G-2B leave on their backpacking trip tomorrow while the unit of Chalutzim return from theirs. Additionally, the bunks of B-5 and B-6 go on the Challenge Course tomorrow!
Birthdays
What is so special about today? We are wishing a very happy birthday to Romy W. one of our amazing and special Session IV campers.
Here’s what celebrating a birthday at Camp Tawonga looks like. (Hint: It’s pretty special.)
How’s the Weather? ☀️
Partly cloudy with a high of 95, low of 66 today
During the hottest time of the day, campers relax in the shade of their cabins during Rest Hour. Additionally, counselors always make sure that campers stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and cool off in the pool or the beautiful Tuolomne river, which are all especially important during hot days like today. In case you missed it, check out this post on what a “typical day” at Camp Tawonga looks like.
Did You Know …
Each year, we try to bring our Tawonga community “down the mountain” through events held in the Bay Area. One of these events is our annual Erev Rosh Hashanah Celebration. Join us this year on Sunday, September 29 at San Rafael’s beautiful McNears Beach from 3 – 5pm. Check out this video about this beautiful celebration and secure your ticket here.
