90th Anniversary Gala News

November 20, 2015

gala song leadersWe are thrilled to share an exciting update with you on the success of our 90th Anniversary Gala on November 7. Over 400 Tawongans spanning generations from the 1930’s to today joined together for this sold-out occasion at 111 Minna in San Francisco. Bonded through a shared love of Camp Tawonga, our community honored our 90-year history, celebrated our past and current leadership and raised critical dollars for our Campership Fund and for one of our most urgently needed projects at Camp right now: building a new Central Bathhouse.

Central Bathhouse Update

As many of you know, the current bathhouse on the Boys Side of Tawonga was built in the 1960’s, and it’s high time for a renovation. Thanks to a generous $50,000 challenge grant from board alum Eve Bernstin and Alex Gersznowicz, we hit our goal for the evening and raised a total of $100,000! The next morning, we received an exciting new challenge grant from another generous Tawonga family to keep the fundraising ball rolling, which you will hear more about in the near future!

Gala Impact

Including the $100,000 raised the night of the Gala for the bathhouse, Tawongans united around this milestone to raise a total of $318,000 through sponsorships, ticket and auction sales to strengthen Camp! This extraordinary impact will allow Tawonga to bring our Mission to even more children and families.
