Welcome Session II Campers!
As the buses rolled down the driveway into camp, exuberant counselors lined the roads cheering “We Welcome You to Camp Tawonga.” Campers pressed their faces to the windows as they caught the first glimpse of Tawonga excitement. Staff escorted campers off the bus to the stage where they received bunk assignments from their unit heads. Campers enthusiastically jumped up when their name was called and ran to meet their new counselors and bunkmates!
Bunks were taken on a tour of camp known as a, “havurah hike,”where they played icebreaker games and visited important buildings like the Dining Hall, Bath Houses and the Health Center. Afterwards, counselors helped their campers move luggage into cabins – their home for the next two weeks.
Campers ate a family-style Tawonga dinner with their bunks in our newly expanded Dining Hall and sang and danced along to an energetic song session filled with camp classics. The evening continued with an opening campfire where bunks performed a short creative short skit showcasing their bunk-themes. We closed out the night singing Hashkiveinu and Friends, Friends, Friends.
We’re all so excited for what the rest of the session will bring for these amazing campers!
