Challenge by Choice
At Camp Tawonga we like to say “challenge by choice.” We believe embracing challenges helps to build self-esteem and form community, two central themes of our Mission & Philosophy. Once per session, every bunk spends a day at Tawonga’s Challenge Course with incredible wilderness leaders who guide campers through a series of mental and physical challenges. For Session A, Challenge Course activities began this week!
In the morning, campers work together as a bunk to build trust and to collaborate through the challenges of the “low” elements, which consist of activities and or games that don’t require harnesses and helmets, designed to get them ready for the climbing to come. After lunch campers are introduced to several of the “high” elements and work together with each other and the facilitators to choose their challenge! Below, check out photos from the Challenge Course today, in addition to free swim, floats, and other fun activities!
