Earth Day Everyday

At Camp Tawonga, we pride ourselves in providing programming that helps kids foster a connection to nature and the world around us. How special is it that we get to spend each day at this gorgeous Camp, go backpacking in Yosemite National Park and have fun with Devin and the Teva (nature) department, learning about our natural environment and wildlife in fun and creative ways?

While every day here feels like Earth Day, today the Teva department put on a special All Camp Program called Earth Day in the Garden. Every Camper rotated through several stations, many of which combined food, music, playful creativity and educational components about the world. Campers hopped on a bike blender station churning out delicious fruit smoothies, joined a gofer protest and got into some Earth yoga. Kids also fried eggs hatched from our very own chickens and grilled zucchini from the garden, actively taking part in sustainable and organic food production. Throughout the whole program, Head Song Leader Maya played bluegrass for all to hear. What an event!
