Tawonga Tidbit
It’s hard to believe tonight was our third and final Shabbat of Session B! Thank goodness we still have until Thursday with these campers. They continue to impress us with the way they support each other in their bunks, lifting one another up each day. Our cooperative community here at Camp Tawonga is truly unique. We hope these campers will try to “take Tawonga home” with them after the session so that all of the families back home can feel the love we feel here!
Tonight’s Shabbat Stroll, dinner and freylach were full of joy and ruach (spirit). Everyone is looking forward to the sleep-in bagel breakfast we have every Saturday morning. We hope you get to sleep in tomorrow too! Enjoy the photos below, and from Camp Tawonga to you – Shabbat Shalom!
🍳 Today’s Kitchen Menu

A Note on Alternative Foods
🥑 Tasty vegetarian and vegan options are available for every meal, in addition to a “middle table” with alternative meal options to meet every camper’s needs.
🥣 During breakfast, the middle table offers a wide selection of cold cereal and milk (dairy-free options too), in addition to hot cereal with toppings. Each lunch and dinner, campers can choose from options at the middle table, like sun-butter and jelly sandwiches, tuna sandwiches and hummus.
🏕 Backpacking Trips and Challenge Course
Today
Bunks of Galil unit (G-3, G-4, AG-4, B-3 and B-4) are returning to Camp from their backpacking and camping trips.
Bunks B-1 and B-2 are having fun on the Challenge Course.
Tomorrow
All campers will be in Camp for Shabbat.
🎂 Birthdays
What’s so special about today? We’re celebrating the birthdays of Camper Jude S. and Counselor Lauren K.! Happy Birthday Jude and Lauren – enjoy your birthday bowls!

☀️ How’s the Weather?
Sunny with a high of 93, low of 66
On an especially hot day like today, counselors always make sure that campers stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and cool off in the pool or the beautiful Tuolumne river.
🎤 In Case You Missed It…
Check out this blog post featuring the commencement speech given by Meg Adler at the 2021 graduation ceremony for Tawonga’s Bar, Bat & B’nai Mitzvah program. In May, the fourth cohort of 49 students celebrated the culmination of their two-year journey together and reflected on what a Jewish way of being means to them.
The Tawonga Tidbit provides a daily dose of Camp with our kitchen menu, Camp birthdays and more. We hope this series brings you a bit closer to Tawonga!
