Variety is the Spice of Life
Camp Tawonga is cyclical. From day to day, season to season, the songs, games, traditions and daily rhythms are consistent– they provide a comforting assurance that Camp will always feel like Camp. When alumni visit after many years of being away, a palpable sense of familiarity and nostalgia washes over them reminding them of their childhood years spent here, as well as an acknowledgment that the same magic that happened for them is happening for the kids right now.
That said, no two days (or two moments for that matter!) are ever exactly the same. They say, “variety is the spice of life” and boy is that true at Tawonga. From chess to tie-dye, sports to candle making, pool and song session, campers have so many opportunities to experience the feeling that is Tawonga by doing so many different things. We say at Camp that you can, “be your best and truest self” and part of that notion comes from the countless opportunities to let that true self shine. There are TONS of ways you can express yourself, have fun and make friends here, and in doing so a special community is made each and every session.
So in a sense, each day we spend together feels both totally the same and completely different all at the same time, and those simultaneous feelings of comfort, excitement, wonder and expression are what make Camp Tawonga the unique place that it is.
