A Taste of Camp

Current Dates: June 16 – 21, 2019
Duration: 6 days
Entering Grades: 2 – 7

This is a great introduction to sleep-away camp! Most campers joining “A Taste of Camp” are new to Tawonga and many are new to overnight camp. Our counselors are prepared to support campers through this transition.

Campers participate in traditional camp activities led by trained specialists. Activities include arts and crafts, swimming, campfires, day hikes into Yosemite or the Stanislaus National Forest and festive banquets. We set the schedule for each bunk to ensure that campers have an opportunity to rotate through our most popular program areas.

On their first full day of Camp, campers participate in a tour of all our program offerings before determining a shared schedule of activities for the session with their bunkmates and counselors. This means that every child has the opportunity to participate in his or her favorite activities, as well as try those they may otherwise never have tried. Each program below includes Shabbat, a backpacking trip and a day on the adventure challenge course.

Session II

Current Dates: June 23 – July 5, 2019
Duration: 2 Weeks
Entering Grades: 3 – 8

Situated perfectly in the middle of the summer, Session II includes all the great activities of “A Taste of Camp” plus Shabbat, an overnight backpacking trip that includes sleeping under the stars and a day on the adventure challenge course.

Session III

Current Dates: July 7 – 26, 2019
Duration: 3 Weeks
Entering Grades: 5 – 10

Our longest session features two Shabbats, one and two-night backpacking trips, optional day hikes a day on the adventure challenge course and additional elective activities. Three weeks at camp is the perfect blend of fun, friendship and independence.

Session IV

Current Dates: July 28 – August 13, 2019
Duration: 2.5 Weeks
Entering Grades: 3 – 10

Session IV offers the same program as Session III and concludes just in time for the start of school. With two Shabbats, a backpacking trip, a day on the adventure challenge course as well as elective activities, Session IV is packed with fun!
